MISSION AND VISION

OUR VISION IS FOR EVERY PERSON WITH A LEARNING DISABILITY TO HAVE A PURPOSEFUL AND FULFILLED LIFE.

NICKEL SUPPORT

Set up in 2012 by Elena Nicola and Nick Walsh after they had become disillusioned by the learning disability sector as a whole. They felt that people with learning disabilities deserved more and were being short changed by some of the more traditional services. It seemed that many services were just trying to get numbers through the door, with little regard for the needs of the very people they were meant to be supporting 

Nick and Elena decided to take action. They formulated a business plan, quit their jobs and started a brand new organisation! After working for over 20 years combined in the learning disability field they felt that they could use their experience and knowledge to create a unique service that offers support in a much more dynamic and powerful way. Their vision is to change the way learning disability services are run forever, offering respect and the chance for people with learning disabilities to shine.

That said, we also believe we have just have just hit the tip of the iceberg and that Nickel Support will continue to grow and offer much more to many more people with learning disabilities for many generations to come."

Back in 2005 when I started my journey to qualify as social worker I only could dream of the day that I became part of a team that would work towards change for people with learning disabilities. 


Over a decade in and our team are still changing traditions and revolutionising services. 


I am so grateful everyday that Nick and I took the risk to give our trainees the platform to stand side by side and show the world who they really are, and not what some choose to see."

USING OUR UNIQUE PURPOSE FOCUSSED MODEL, WE WILL MEASURE AND TRACK TRAINEES PROGRESS, OFFERING INCREMENTAL PERSONALISED SUPPORT TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOAL OF HAVING A MORE PURPOSEFUL AND FULFILLED LIFE.
