ASSESSMENT

You will need to speak to your local authority and find out if can receive a personal budget and if so, how much. They will ask you a few questions about your life to find out the type and amount of support you need. The local authority will then tell you how much money you are entitled to and whether you may need to contribute some ... in other words your personal budget.

VISIT

Come and visit us, say hi,and we

will tell you all about our service

and what we can offer you.

TASTER

Come and have a taster day or two for free with us to find it if we are what are looking for,

before you start to plan your

support.

PLAN

When you have found out how much money you have available to you, start to plan your support. Get together your family, carers and any professionals you feel might help you make your decision.

AGREEMENT

This stage is also a good chance to work out how you are going to manage your money. There are a few ways you can do this:

you can keep it in a bank

account and manage it.

a family carer could keep it and organise any payments.

• a trust fund could be set up

a service provider could look after the money.

a voluntary organisation might be able to manage it for you

ORGANISE

If you still want to join the Nickel Support team and it has been agreed by the local authority, then you need to contact us and organise the days and session times you want to come on.

REVIEW

It is important you have regular reviews to make sure we are offering you the right support at Nickel Support. The local authority will usually be involved in this review, along with any parent or carer you would like to come along.
